How to Improve the Outdoor Space at a City Centre Restaurant Without Erecting a Permanent Structure Attached to the Building or the Ground

Introduction
Nusr-Et is an exclusive chain of steakhouse restaurants with a presence in 7 countries. The owner has exacting standards in terms of the guest experience, covering the food, the atmosphere and interior design, whilst patrons are dining or drinking in the restaurant.
Problem statement
In their Knightsbridge restaurant in London, the interior décor was impeccable, however there was a need to enhance the appearance and functionality the outdoor space.
Rising Global had previously improved the outdoor space at one of Nusr-Et’s Turkish restaurants. Nusr-Et contacted Rising Global UK Ltd to propose a solution that would provide shelter (from wind, sun and rain) and define the restaurant’s on pavement space whilst looking professional and on brand.
Solution
It was important to creating an outdoor space that was not fixed to the building. Rising Global proposed two products that would meet the owner’s brief of proving shelter whilst looking professional and on-brand:
– Extendable glass windbreak planters would allow the space to be defined whilst also providing relief from the wind.
– Extra-large parasols would provide shading and protection from light rain whilst being fixed to the ground using heavily weighted bases.
Results
Two extra-large parasols and 10 windbreak planters were installed outside Nusr-Et.
The 4m x 4m parasols were stablised in position using heavy weighted bases.
Each of the ten windbreak planters were constructed on site using pre-fabricated powder coated aluminium parts, pistons and glass panels. Having castors on the underneath of each planter prevents any tripping hazard whilst still offering future reconfigurations to be undertaken (if required)
Conclusion
The outdoor space at Nusr-Et has been transformed, thereby creating the perfect blend of style and comfort for their guests to enjoy dining alfresco in Central London.
